Immortal Technique strikes another thread of this debate though. Hemp plants are very easily produced and it is very easy to get a good crop. Despite all the drama about better weed today, most of it--as usual--is just propaganda meant to scare. I am not sure if anyone specifically thinks this and is attempting to prevent its legalization (though possibly the tobacco industry could have something to say).

Rather, I think that there are is no investing and no long-term gain in influencing drug policy because it will result in easy personal production but no strong forseeable industry resulting. This is why I think that even though there are studies supporting the positive effects of pot, there won't be a market grab for it, and therefore probably won't get strong enough to become legal.

Obama is behind its legalization though :)
