Re: spacebook?
Posted by courtstarr on 01-04-2008 in Myspace vs. FacebookI believe that Facebook will be become THE communications platform and data repository for a lot of people. People have already spent the time creating their social graph and Facebook has done a pretty good job (except for Beacon) keeping information secure. They are becoming more open and allowing members to share their own data with whomever they choose definitely makes them a leader in this space. I expect they will become the socialOS of the internet. Google and M$oft watch out.
In response to: spacebook?
in this age of communication at our fingertips, two websites have prevailed as the most popular of social networking sites: myspace and facebook.
myspace is advertised as "a place for friends" while facebook was originally intended for college students. lately, the two websites have been taking ideas from each other to "improve" their websites for the masses.
personally, i would have had to go with facebook if it were not for one glaring recent flaw in fb, and that is the "applications". facebook used to have much more class than the tacky customization look of myspace profiles. however, now facebook profiles are being cluttered by nonsense applications which slow my old computer down a lot and are simply irritating. i don't really care if you're a pirate or a ninja or a slayer. but that's just me.
myspace does have the edge when it comes to music though. i think myspace has pushed a lot of indie bands to the forefront who otherwise may have still been playing shows in their garage or local churches... or something.
what do you think?
