it all depends

as far as which is better, i think i'd agree about calling. besides that "personal touch", just being able to hear the inflection of someone's voice does a lot. i mean, over a text, you can't necessarily tell if someone is being sarcastic or serious, and plus sometimes people shorten and abbreviate things to the point where you may not be able to understand them. (i hate that.) if we're talking about solely cell phones though, i'd have to say texting. i never get service (stupid verizon!) on my cellphone in or around my neighborhood, and that's really irritating. and i get a lot of dropped calls. ("it's the network"?.. yeah right).

one thing that bothers me though is this ritual that many people believe necessary. i've found that a lot of people find it's only appropriate to call someone after you've texted them saying "can i call you?". it sounds absurd, but i've witnessed this many times. i don't like how this has become a new norm. i don't even really know why i don't like it... but i don't. that was kind of unrelated though.

oh... texting definitely has the upside on discreetly getting a message to someone, and fast.
