Texting Whore Epidemic?

I agree that there are times for one or the other--but being on a college campus, I've seen a rampant misuse of texting. I seen girls and guys (texting whores) whose fingers move faster than their mouths ever will. Do half of your friends need to know you're having a good day because of your mass-text smiley? Obviously I'm exaggerating a little--but you would be surprised how accurate it is. I recently read an article on CNN that statistically showed that the majority teens are using texts to ask people out on dates--and to communicate in general. That seems so incredibly sad that so many people don't have the gumption to actually take that chance talking on the phone (which is not even in person). I always wonder if it might be a regression in human communication.

So if it's ever something of a serious/important nature--grow a pair--trying calling on the phone (you know--what it used to be used for). Or if you're more daring (god forbid)---trying talking to them in person--
