ASU Beats UofA

There's no question here, whether in the realm of athletics (a BCS caliber football team with a rising basketball team), the realm of academics (one of the highest national merit scholar counts in the country), or the realm of fun (voted the top party school), Arizona State University destroys its counterpart.

You can't forget about that arts!
ASU's Herberger College of the Arts is a national leader in all areas of education.
Specifically in the School of Art it is ranked;
3rd in Printmaking by U.S. News & World Report
5th(2nd among public institutions) in Photography by U.S. News & World Report
7th in Art Education by Art Education Review
13th(8th among public institutions) in MFA Program by U.S. News & World Report
14th(11th among public institutions) in Ceramics by U.S. News & World Report

ALSO (and most importantly)

The Schools of Arts' Intermedia Program allows students to study and major in 3D computer animation (Unlike the UofA which offers no such program)!

U of A!

Sorry Fariz, but U of A beats ASU in athletics (you may have better football, but we have better basketball... and honestly, whats a better sport, football or basketball?) and in academics (the amount of national merit scholars by no means is an even reasonable measure of the quality of the academics at an institute [furthermore, ASU has more national merits simply because it gives them more money]... U of A has more research money than ASU and is ranked higher by US News than ASU). So the only thing that ASU actually has is the fun-factor (you do have tempe vs. our tucson... ha), but we still win 2-1 :)

asu hells yeah

asu is definitly cooler than ua because we are actually a real school in a real town. and we don't only have to go to house parties to have a good time.

UA > ASU

Well, we *definitely* learn how to spell at U of A ... even though we're not a "real school" compared to ASU.

I definately agree with your point that U of A has a better basketball program, but I'm not sure how much longer you can claim that title. The days of Lute Olsen seem to be numbered, meanwhile Herb Sendek is beginning to build something special in Tempe. He is an excellent recruiter, how else would you get a McDonald's All-American following an 8-22 season. ASU's basketball fan base has been sitting at home waiting for the return to the top 25 for quite sometime and as we saw tonight that fan base was in full force tonight as James Harden absolutely carried the Devils to victory. Once again, I'm not going to contest the prestige of Tucson's hoops program, but Lute is on his way out and Herb is on his way up.

How do you get an All-American following a 8-22 season?
It's really simple, you hire the All-Americans high school coach to work for your program..
Illegal? nope
Ethical? probably not

That is true, but Sendek is still an excellent recruiter. He was able to contend in North Carolina with NCST, recruiting against the likes of Duke and UNC. Harden said this, when discussing why he signed with the Devils, "I watched Coach Sendek's teams at N.C. State and really liked their style of play," also adding, "I was very comfortable on my visit, Coach Sendek is such a humble guy and he's looking to do the same thing I am: win."

And addressing his high school coach:

Harden said that didn’t factor all that much into his decision.

"It helped a little bit,” Harden admitted. “But it was up to me and wasn't about him at all."

Derek Glasser also went to Artesia High School, so that could have weighed in the decision also.
