Battle of the Sexes

I have to say male since i'm a man. But i love girls. :D
I don't want to know that girls to win since i don't want to lose. But i also don't want boys to win because that would mean i'm adoring those from the inferior sex.

Uhh.. I am a man. So by default I pick men. But I am defined by those around me that are defined by me... heh heh. My wife of course.
A man is only as good as the woman in his life.
And I'd like to say I'm sitting pretty damn good.

I agree with most everyone in that this discussion is pretty pointless and that each gender has some obviously different advantages over the other, but for the sake of argument, if we simply are talking about sexes, I would have to say that males win because they can spread their genes much easier and more frequently than females. Life is all about passing your genes down from generation to generation and survival of the fittest and all that nonesense, so it makes sense that the most 'fit' sex has the largest advantage and is superior. Males are obviously more 'fit' because they can have kids with multiple women at the same time and essentially can continue to spread their genes an infinite amount of times while woman can only produce one child per nine months and are limited by all sorts of other things because they have to actually carry the child, because of all the other factors that go along with being female, etc.

This is really an awful discussion.

The fact that people can actively choose a particular sex and say, "That one's better" just astounds me.
It's like saying "Black people are better at this, but white people rock so much harder..."

Here's a quick run-down of what each sex does within a HUGE and gross (in both meanings of the term) generalization:

Man- hunts Woman- gathers
Man- protects Woman- nutures
Man- hurts Woman- heals
etc, etc

These are the basic archetypes we think of when we think of gender. Because really, we're talking battle of the genders, not sexes. Sex is the physical capabilities and "equipment" we are born with. In that instance, women have definitely gotten the short end of the stick, as it were.
But gender deals with archetypes and fluctuating cultural opinions of each gender. Watch some prime-time television. You'll see that most men are "pigs", and most women are nags. These are societal norms and we accept and love them for it.

Gender itself is completely a fiction. Animals don't have a concept of gender, therefore they don't have gender confusion like so many humans do. With animals, it's down to sex. Females procreate, males spread their seed.
That is the function of the sexes. They're each equipped to handle different circumstances as the occasion arises. Men could not have babies. Their spines are not build for the load bearing that happens when carrying that amount of weight. Their hips are not built for passing the fetus anywhere, even if they had a hole for it. And they have no basic, built-in means for nourishing the newborn.

Women cannot create life on their own.

They can do just about everything else, though.

I don't believe one sex is BETTER than the other. If forced to choose, I'd probably go female (as a woman and a feminist one at that), but honestly, like the person a few posts below said, there is no need for comparison. Why should it even matter? I believe a person's merits should speak to who they are, not their gender.

No, we can't lift as much as a man, but we can multi-task like there's no tomorrow. We can survive in the wild and in the board room. We go on functioning despite menstruating. We are at home in the boardroom, the house, the House, and the Senate. We still make $.75 to every man's dollar for the same job. We deal with double standards for expectations in family obligations, emotions, and intelligence. The deciding factor is attire, though. We can wear pants, dresses, make-up, high heels, tennis shoes, and t-shirts with no strange looks. We are women, hear us roar.

That has got to be the most uneducated opinion I have ever given...
But I've done my research...and it's true...thought it does not apply to all women...some are indeed "hot", however my research continues...and its awesome.

Men and women aren't competing against each other for anything, I don't see any need for comparison. They're different and both necessary.

Although females have a lot of advantages, it's easy to see why males win out. They not only have the physical characteristics to survive on their own, most of the skills females excel in are those which are taught through practice.

First, males are more dominant physically, they possess the tools and athleticism needed to survive in the 'wild' which females usually do not possess. This is clear by watching any sort of womens sports. The most dominant physical females usually have the amount of physical strength and athleticism as the average male. This is not to say there are no females who are physically dominant, but on average they are not.

Second, most of the aspects females excel in are those that are taught. Realms that women are seen to excel at (academics, cooking [i know that's stereotyping but it is true that in general women cook better than men], the arts) are those which can be taught to anyone.

I will concede that women have the ability to carry a child, which a male can not do. However that point is irrelevant because a female can not create a child on her own. Therefore, overall, males have more of an advantage due to their natural traits, which women can not claim.
