So Gasol was finnally traded, but i have no clue what the Grizzlies were thinking. They got some cap space, but why would Elton Brand or Jamison want to go to this team? They got a couple of draft picks that are probably going to be in the late teens or early 20's, not a place where you generally get great players, even if this draft turns out to be deep. Finally the youthful piece they end up getting is a point guard, which is not something they need right now having just spent their 4th pick on Conley and still having Lowry. They just got rid of a player because they didn't have enough minutes for another point guard.
For the Lakers this seems like a pretty good deal. They have Gasol to fill in for Bynum until he gets back and healthy, however at that point it gets a little crowded downlow. Baring someone getting traded, probably Odom for Kidd, they are going to have trouble on who plays. Do you sit Gasol when Bynum, or do you sit Bynum? Or do you sit Odom or put him into the 3 spot? From the Lakers point of view this is a win in the talent section, but I'm concerned about the future log jam it will create in the 4/5 spots. In the end I'm going to lean towards the Lakers, but if the log jam creates a problem down the line or if the Grizzlies manage to get a nice free agent pickup then it might switch around.
