Facebook would probably win but I get so annoyed w/ all of the applications that I just don't use it. I don't know how other people deal w/ it.

Either way, we should all be using less of them...And what is up with this minimum length of 100 characters?

The custom overlays and such are what kill MySpace for me, it destroys any navigational sense and makes it impossible to know what's going on. On top of that I never know who my friends are and who's not on myspace because it makes it so hard to search through them and actually find them. For them Facebook is not only easier to use, but a lot friendlier because I can actually find my friends.

I don't know if a social network with an option for "random play" in the looking for category can be called classy, but that's probably just me.

Facebook is a mature boring site for college students. but myspace is for highschool and younger. depends what age you are.

I don't think I'm entirely biased toward Facebook because I have tried to maintain a Myspace for a few years. Myspace was slower and messier and there was no sense of privacy. It was either show all your information to the world or nothing at all. Facebook has the option of showing a limited profile to strangers and specific friends.
And I do hate how Facebook applications really crowd up profiles. Pictures, faces, shiny things and music everywhere. It's messy and annoying, but you CAN at least hide them. Myspace gives you no such option and is infinitely more gaudy and obnoxious.
Personalization would be nice for Facebook, but I think it's better limited to your own personal viewing of the site. I don't want to see other people's clashing text and background colors and tasteless combinations.

Facebook is definitely more classy, and also seems less gaudy in appearance than myspace. I liked the eliteness that came with facebook when it was solely for college students. But now that it's open to the public, and with the addition of all these new applications, it is not as classy as it used to be. Still, though, it is much cleaner and easier to navigate. Every now and then on myspace, I stumble across someone I went to elementary or middle school with, which is pretty exciting, and that doesn't happen much on facebook. I just really don't like when people have mismatching background colors and fonts on myspace, as well as annoying music playing in the background that is impossible to turn off.

Well i have had my Myspace for about a year and a half now and my facebook for only about 3 weeks. I love Myspace for the fact that i don't have to be like everyone els. i create custom div overlays for it so that it looks unlike anyone else's. But when people cram their pages with SOOO many pictures flash widgets it slows everything down. The alert system on myspace i think personally it better than on facebook just for the simple fact that it draws your eye to it so that you KNOW not just a happen to glance in the corner to see a tiny little notifaction. Now facebook goes with out customization and individuality and just has everything looking the same witch i guess if a good thing. But cant they do liek netlog ( Facebox) does have set themes to choose from so that you can have SOME semblance of color and im different even just changing colors. The applications are slow i have just a few on my page it slows it down. Then you get the people with over 100 of them then they are all extended you spend an hour trying to find what you went to look for. I mean i guess Myspace is for friends and Facebook is for business/networking thats what it all comes down to with the user friendliness and such. But i guess thats me.

I believe that Facebook will be become THE communications platform and data repository for a lot of people. People have already spent the time creating their social graph and Facebook has done a pretty good job (except for Beacon) keeping information secure. They are becoming more open and allowing members to share their own data with whomever they choose definitely makes them a leader in this space. I expect they will become the socialOS of the internet. Google and M$oft watch out.

I am part of both MySpace and Facebook, and a few other social sites out there. You know what I check every day? Facebook. Most of my friends are there. My family is on there.
And while Facebook has these glaring applications, MySpace has the tackiest profile pages this side of Las Vegas, replete with tons of videos, music files, and animated greetings that just make me want to vomit.
Sure, MySpace has done great things for bands, and Facebook is trying to do that too. (Better late than never.) But MySpace has a general reputation for sleaze because anyone can sign up and be, well, anyone. Originally, Facebook was the one place where you had to be a real person before you signed up. But it still hasn't made news like MySpace has, what with the children getting propositioned during chats with MySpace members, or a girl killing herself because another woman was posing as a boy and chatted her up enough that she thought she was in love with "him".
Facebook has yet to have it's scandal. And until it does, I'll continue to preach its' virtues while keeping as many applications as I can keep track of. Spring cleaning once in a while didn't hurt anyone.
