Number one reason is that they are def not veggie friendly as T-sage said. With gelatin derived from the worst animal on earth, it's no wonder they aren't as good as M&M's. Even if you can get halaal or veggie-friendly ones (if those exist), nothing really beats chocolate. It's just more sophisticated candy.

I would have to say that Skittles definitely get my vote, based on the information in the post before. When eating skittles, Im always in for a surprise...Like BAM! you pull out a cherry on one hand, and on the very next one BOOM! Green apple. Its this variety that keeps my rather overactive mind content. With M&Ms there are like four varieties; Original, Peanut, Almond, Crunch and a few other limited runs (peanut butter and white chocolate i.e)

"...orange, yellow, grape, what ever red is.. cherry i think..."
i'd like to ask everyone if you'd really want that uncertainty when choosing a candy. do you really want that mysterious synthetic flavor? i know i don't. maybe that's just me, but i think i'd prefer the simple, delightful taste of chocolate.
additionally, you can become an M&M (http://www.becomeanmm.com/) and even customize your own M&Ms (http://www.mymms.com/)
but can you become a skittle?... can you customize your own skittles?
the answer to these questions, i regret to inform you, is no.
(p.s. i'd also like to quote wikipedia: "Skittles are also not certified as being Halaal by any certifying authority and should be avoided by Muslims.")

yeah umm chocolate. come on now. yeah sure its good once in a while but really? one same old taste of chocolate OR orange, yellow, grape, what ever red is.. cherry i think and green. chocolate just is nasty after a while and melts all over your fingers. its just a mess. also M&M's dont come in TROPICAL and SOUR. But skittles do.

They're made of chocolate. Need I say more? :)
Edit: Apparently I do need to say more, because there is a 100 character minimum. Well, they're colorful, and the name is fun to say, too!

I would have to pick M&M's, because well...who doesn't like chocolate? And for those who don't prefer the regular chocolate flavor, there are always the other varieties such as peanut/peanut butter, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and so much more!
I'm not a huge fan of artificial fruity flavors or extremely chewy candies. And Skittles are definitely not vegetarian friendly. Need I say more?

M&Ms have a lot going for them.
they are the nation's top-selling candy... and the only candy offered on air force one.
and some colors have their own mythical stories:
the green ones are widely considered aphrodisiacs, and the orange ones are thought to augment breast size. (and i'm not even making this up, i'm reading this straight out of a book)
plus, there are actually 21 different colors of M&Ms available: black, blue, light blue, dark blue, brown, cream, gold, gray, green, aqua green, teal green, dark green, maroon, orange, pink, dark pink, purple, light purple, red, white, and yellow.
just something to think about.

probably neither and imma have to go with starburst or something. skittles used to be the bomb but when i was little i used to eat them in the car, and i have motion sickness so you can imagine why i now don't like them anymore. and M&Ms its almost the perfect amt of chocolate. i like peanut m&ms and M&M minis. also its cool that you can customize your m&ms
